Reginald John Reardon, Toowoomba — The community is mourning the untimely passing of Reginald John Reardon, known affectionately as "Reardo" to his friends. He passed away on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2024, in the Philippines, leaving behind a legacy of friendship, humor, and kindness.
A longtime friend of Reardo, Paul Buffey, has organized a fundraiser to bring him back to Toowoomba for a final resting place alongside his late loved one, Kim. The costs associated with repatriating Reardo’s body to Australia are expected to reach up to $50,000 AUD. The fundraiser has raised $200 AUD from generous donors so far, with contributions from Bruce A Myers and Paul Buffey.
Paul Buffey, who has known Reardo for over 44 years, shared his grief and memories of the "true larrikin of the world" who had touched the lives of many. Buffey is working on behalf of Reardo’s family, Kaitlin and Daniel, to ensure his journey home is completed. With the current situation, they anticipate that it will take until late January 2025 to bring Reardo back.
The Toowoomba community, along with friends and supporters worldwide, have rallied around the cause, hoping to ease the financial burden during this difficult time. Buffey expressed his gratitude for the support received and urged those who can to contribute towards the repatriation costs.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Reardo’s family and friends. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
