Rebecca Burgess-Rucker, Charleston, WV—Rebecca Burgess-Rucker passed away on September 29th, 2024, at CAMC Memorial Hospice after a difficult battle with esophageal cancer. Her condition had spread to her lymph nodes, and complications during treatment tragically led to her passing.
Rebecca leaves behind her husband, Larry, with whom she shared 36 years of marriage, along with her two daughters, Desirae and Brittne Rucker, and her younger sister Beth Skiles. She was a proud graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, class of 1982.
In light of this heartbreaking loss, Rebecca’s daughter, Desirae Rucker, has organized a fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses. Without life insurance, the family is struggling to cover the high costs of her final farewell. Desirae, speaking on behalf of herself and her sister, shared how challenging this time has been for them as they navigate their grief and the financial burden of laying their mother to rest.
The fundraiser has begun with a kind donation of $50 from Joshua Gaffin, with many in the community encouraged to donate whatever they can, as every bit helps ease the financial strain.
