Rafael Nieves, also known to many as "Ralph, Ralphie, or Rico," passed away on August 15th, 2024, after battling a massive stroke and brain bleed for 11 days. His passing has deeply affected his family, particularly his brother Anthony Gonzalez, who is now the sole surviving sibling after their parents’ passing. Rafael was known for his unwavering kindness, always eager to lend a hand or offer advice, and his passion for cooking, especially his famous empanadas, will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Anthony Gonzalez has organized a fundraiser to support Rafael’s memorial, hoping to honor his memory with a Celebration of Life. The funds raised will go toward covering the costs of his cremation, urns, and the event itself. Any additional funds will be given to Rafael’s children, 10-year-old Ethan and 12-year-old Bryanna, to help them during this difficult time.
So far, $250 has been raised out of a $2,500 goal, thanks to the generous donations of Kalissa Grabowski, Cinthia Sanchez, Gail Butler, and Heidi Ramirez. The family is grateful for the support they have received and are hopeful that the community will continue to contribute to this cause.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Rafael Nieves during this heartbreaking time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we hope that you find comfort in the memories of his love and kindness.
