Preston Benjamin Williams, affectionately known as the "Fresh Prince of Albany," passed away on October 6, 2024, at the age of 33. The Albany community is mourning the loss of a beloved father, mentor, and friend. Preston, who is survived by his 10-year-old daughter Leilani, touched countless lives with his kindness and dedication to his family and the community.
In June 2017, Preston was diagnosed with a brain tumor and bravely fought cancer twice, undergoing two open-head surgeries in Florida. Despite his challenges, Preston continued to bring joy and faith to those around him, remaining a positive force in his community. Upon returning to Albany in 2022, he began working at the Boys and Girls Club, mentoring youth and leading by example.
Sadly, Preston’s cancer returned in 2024, and though he fought courageously, his decline came quickly. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Althia Boutrin has organized a fundraiser to honor Preston and help his family give him a dignified farewell. The community is encouraged to support this effort and come together in Preston’s memory, just as he always did for others.
