Peter Smith, Darawank, NSW— Peter Smith passed away this morning after a long and difficult battle with multiple health issues. His death has left a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends, especially his partner of 29 years, Mel Kirby.
Peter had recently been diagnosed with cancer, and his condition worsened after a series of hospitalizations. After being placed on life support at Taree Hospital, he was transferred to John Hunter Hospital, where he was in ICU on a ventilator. Sadly, Peter succumbed to septic complications and organ failure this morning.
Mel, who had been by Peter’s side throughout his medical journey, has not been able to work during this time, putting her under additional financial strain.
