Pat Winfield, a cherished member of the Carmacks, YT community, is expected to move into hospice care next month due to her rapidly progressing stage 4 cancer. The news has deeply affected those who know her, as she has spent much of her life working tirelessly with volunteer and non-profit organizations. Despite her giving spirit, Pat has little saved for retirement, and now her friends and neighbors are rallying to help with the costs of her cremation and the return of her remains to her family.
A fundraiser organized by Myla Lillefors has been set up to assist with these expenses. In addition to this, the community is being asked to help care for Pat’s two beloved dogs. Whether by donating food, volunteering for dog walks, or providing a loving home where the two can stay together, any assistance is welcomed during this difficult time.
The community’s support has been essential, and though there have been no donations yet, there is hope that contributions will soon ease the burden faced by Pat and her loved ones. Every small act of kindness counts as Pat’s journey approaches its final stage.
