Papa Phil, Lahaina, HI— Papa Phil, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, November 10th, at 12:42 PM. Surrounded by his family, he peacefully took his last breath after a long battle with declining health, including complications from dementia and other medical conditions.
Papa Phil was an integral part of the Angove family, who had moved from Washington State to Maui to live with his son Bryan and daughter-in-law Nicole. His infectious humor, warm smile, and vibrant spirit filled their home with joy. A Vietnam War veteran and longtime Seabee in the reserves, Papa Phil dedicated much of his life to service, faith, and love for others. His love for Jesus and his family was unwavering, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, often seen greeting everyone at church on Sundays.
In the last year of his life, Papa Phil’s health deteriorated rapidly, and despite the family’s best efforts to care for him, his medical bills became a significant burden. His passing leaves not only a deep emotional void but also financial challenges for the Angove family, who are now seeking support through a fundraiser to help cover medical expenses and funeral costs.
Jessica Taguiped, a close friend of the Angove family, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to help ease their financial burden. The goal is to raise $25,000 to assist the family in honoring Papa Phil’s memory and providing the support they need as they adjust to life without him.
