Olga Iris Reyes, affectionately known as Olgita, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, at the age of 84 in Mays Landing, NJ. Born on September 10, 1939, in Juncos, Puerto Rico, Olgita was a beloved figure known for her warmth, generosity, and devotion to her family. Her legacy is one of love and kindness, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Olgita is survived by her devoted partner of 41 years, Isaias Reyes, her brother Edwin Diaz and his wife Emily, her sons Wilfrido Lleras and his wife Nelyda, and Alfredo Lleras. Her grandchildren, including Jessica Kerstetter (who is organizing a fundraiser in her honor), Natalia Nunez, Angel Lleras, and Catalina Lleras, along with her great-grandchildren, will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. She leaves behind cherished friends and family who will miss her deeply.
In addition to her role as a dedicated housewife for fifteen years, Olgita worked at Lenox China for 22 years, where she built not only a career but lasting friendships. Those who worked with her fondly remember her as a source of joy and care in their daily lives.
Olgita’s life was filled with simple pleasures, from her love of travel and family gatherings to her enjoyment of crocheting and board games. She was known for her meticulous remembrance of special occasions and her love of capturing memories through photographs. Her kindness and thoughtfulness were felt by everyone around her.
Though Olgita faced a battle with Alzheimer’s in her later years, she did so with the same grace and strength that defined her life. Her family finds solace in knowing she is at peace, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A ceremony will be held today, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Wimberg Funeral Home in Egg Harbor City, NJ, followed by a service at 4 pm. Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose legacy will endure.
