Oakley Montague, Rocky Top, TN — The community is mourning the loss of young Oakley Montague, who tragically passed away on July 5, 2024. Oakley was just under 2 years old, set to celebrate his birthday in October. He was involved in a devastating car fire along with his father, Chip, and two older brothers, Maximus (4) and Hendrix (3).
On that fateful day, the family’s vehicle caught fire, leading to severe injuries for all involved. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Chip, Maximus and Hendrix were rescued from the burning vehicle. However, Oakley succumbed to his injuries and will be remembered as a sweet and cherished child.
Chip, the boys’ father, suffered third-degree burns on both his hands, arms, and the side of his face. Maximus is currently in the ICU on breathing tubes, with burns covering his entire body. Hendrix also sustained severe third-degree burns on half of his body and is being treated in a burn unit.
Kayla Hann, a relative, has organized a fundraiser to support the Montague family during this tragic time. The goal is to raise $25,000 to help cover funeral expenses, medical bills, and other costs. As of now, no donations have been made, but the community is encouraged to contribute and offer prayers.
Oakley’s memory will live on through the love of his family and the support of the community. The Montague family is rallying together, trying to navigate life after this unimaginable loss.
