Nathan Patrick Landes, Towanda, PA— Nathan Patrick Landes passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 28 after a brief medical emergency. Nathan was a cherished member of the community and a beloved son, nephew, and friend.
Born in 1996 at Hershey Medical Center, Nathan faced many challenges in his life due to being born with Spina Bifida, which required him to use a wheelchair. Despite these challenges, Nathan was an active participant in the Towanda Area School District’s Special Olympics, excelling in track and field, swimming, and bowling. His talent in bowling led him to win a gold medal at the State competition.
Nathan was a passionate and devoted member of the North Street Community Church in Canton, PA, where he actively participated in worship and church activities. He was known for his warm heart and infectious enthusiasm. His love for learning, especially about U.S. presidents, made him a trivia expert, and he loved playing games, watching movies, and doing puzzles, with a special fondness for Star Wars.
In addition to his family, Nathan was deeply loved by his caregivers and church family. He was recently working as a barista at Java Junction in Athens, PA, as part of Penn York Opportunities. Despite facing numerous obstacles throughout his life, Nathan remained determined, joyful, and filled with a unique sense of humor.
Nathan is survived by his dedicated mother, Lynn Landes; his grandmother, Patricia Dunbar-Landes; and his aunts, Marie Taylor, Amber King, Kerri Leiva-Hernandez, and uncle, David Landes. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and community.
A fundraiser has been organized by Scott Taylor to help cover funeral expenses and additional costs, including a grave marker for Nathan. The generosity of the community has been overwhelming, with donations pouring in from many individuals who were touched by Nathan’s life.
