Mursal was known as a hardworking and loving father who dedicated his life to ensuring a better future for his children. He had emigrated from Somalia to the United States in 2007, seeking a brighter future for his family. He was the primary breadwinner, not only supporting his immediate family but also providing for several extended family members back in Somalia.

His contributions were many, including donations to build mosques and schools both in his local communities and in Somalia. Last July, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by completing the pilgrimage to Hajj.
