Morine Russell, Jamaica— It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Morine Russell, who passed away unexpectedly on November 28th, 2024. Morine was 61 years old at the time of her passing, a true survivor who defied the odds after doctors had predicted she wouldn’t live past 25 following a stroke years ago that left her paralyzed in her right arm.
Known for her cheerful smile and infectious sense of humor, Morine touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a beloved member of the Merl Grove High School alumni class of 1980, where she formed lifelong friendships and brought joy to many.
In the wake of her passing, Morine’s family is facing financial challenges in arranging her funeral. The funeral service has been postponed to January 11th, 2025, to allow time for the necessary funds to cover the burial plot, materials, and repass expenses. Morine’s cousin, Tatrice, has taken on the responsibility of organizing the funeral, but further financial support is needed.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up by Ann Elliott, a close classmate and friend, to assist the family during this difficult time. As of now, $100 has been raised from one donation, with a goal of reaching more to ensure that Morine can be laid to rest with the dignity and respect she deserves.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Morine’s family and friends. May her memory continue to bring light to those who knew her.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Morine Russell. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
