Mitchell Mel Tweten of Medicine Hat, Alberta, passed away recently, leaving behind a grieving family and heartbroken friends. At just 34 years old, Mitch, as he was affectionately known, is remembered for his adventurous spirit, his deep love for sports, and his remarkable talent in everything he did.
Born on January 30, 1990, Mitch was raised in Medicine Hat, where he graduated from McCoy High School. Over the years, he explored various career paths before finding his place at the Goodyear Tire Plant, where he worked from 2011 until his passing. His colleagues and friends will always remember his incredible determination and ability to excel at whatever he put his mind to.
Mitch had a great passion for sports, especially soccer, and he earned a blue belt in karate. Skateboarding was his true love, and he spent countless hours honing his skills. His talent extended beyond physical activities—Mitch was legendary among his friends for his mastery of the game Guitar Hero.
Beyond his hobbies, Mitch cherished the outdoors, frequently swimming, camping, and boating at Elkwater with the Fogen family. He also loved the thrill of riding motorbikes and cars, always chasing the freedom of the open road. Those close to Mitch will remember his infectious humor, caring personality, and radiant smile that could light up any room.
Mitch leaves behind his parents, Rob and Doreen Tweten, his brother Jordan (Karla), nephews Connor and Oliver, niece Avery, and his girlfriend, Brittney. He also leaves his grandparents, Mel Tweten and Rachel Hammel, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who mourn his loss. Preceding him in death were his Grandma Phyllis, Grandpa Leonard, Auntie Laurie, Uncles Chuck and Dwight, and cousin Brielle.
A fundraiser has been organized by Tasha L on behalf of Mitch’s brother, Jordan Tweten, to assist the family during this difficult time. The support from friends and loved ones has been overwhelming, with donations pouring in to help ease the strain on the family.
A graveside service will be held in Mitch’s honor at Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat on October 4, 2024. Family and friends are invited to gather between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m. to pay their final respects.
Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to the Tweten family and all those affected by this tragic loss. Mitch’s warmth, kindness, and zest for life will be remembered forever. Rest in peace, Mitch.
