Merrill Hodgden, Cassoday, KS— The community is in mourning after the passing of Merrill Hodgden on September 24, 2024, following a long battle with cancer and heart disease. Merrill was a cherished member of his family and community, known for his service in the U.S. Army, where he served in Germany, and his love for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He graduated from ElDorado High School as part of the EHS Class of 1973.
Merrill’s passing has deeply impacted his family, who are now struggling to cover the costs of cremation and funeral services. Pamela McDaniel, a close friend of the Hodgden family, has organized a fundraiser to help ease the financial burden on his loved ones. She shared that Merrill had been planning to begin cancer treatment in December 2024 but, unfortunately, passed away before the treatment could begin.
In addition to his military service, Merrill worked as a truck driver for many years and was deeply loved by his family, friends, and even acquaintances. The loss of such a kind and well-respected figure has left a significant void in the hearts of all who knew him.
We extend our deepest condolences to Merrill Hodgden’s family and friends during this painful time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate through this difficult period.
