MenDee Houston, Craig, CO— MenDee Houston passed away on December 28th at 4 a.m. after a long and courageous battle with health issues. Her family, friends, and community are heartbroken over her loss.
For the past two decades, MenDee fought tirelessly against Rheumatoid Arthritis, enduring constant pain yet always finding joy in baking cakes for her loved ones and participating in family gatherings. Five years ago, MenDee was faced with additional health struggles related to her heart, which she confronted with strength and resilience. In September, she underwent emergency surgery to address severe bowel issues, which later caused complications with her breathing. Despite these challenges, she continued to fight with remarkable bravery.
On December 19th, MenDee was hospitalized for breathing difficulties and flown to Loveland, where doctors tried to stabilize her heart. Tragically, her heart could no longer bear the strain, and she passed away in the early hours of December 28th.
MenDee’s daughter, Laura Houston, who stood by her side throughout her health battles, was unable to be with her mother during her final moments due to her own struggle with COVID-19. Laura expressed deep sorrow at not being able to hold her mother’s hand during her last moments.
To honor MenDee’s legacy, her family has organized a fundraiser to cover medical expenses and funeral costs. The GoFundMe campaign, titled “MenDee’s Legacy: Aid for Her Loved Ones,” is an opportunity for those who knew and loved MenDee to contribute in any way they can. The support from friends and family has been overwhelming, with many sending heartfelt messages of love and support during this difficult time.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Houston family during this heartbreaking period. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
