Melvin Ricardo Molden, Washington D.C.— The community is heartbroken as we remember Melvin Ricardo Molden, who passed away peacefully at home on the evening of November 30th, 2024. He was 50 years old. Melvin was a symbol of strength, resilience, and unyielding spirit, touching the lives of many with his courage and infectious smile.
Melvin’s journey through life was nothing short of extraordinary. At the tender age of 18, he endured a life-altering tragedy, becoming a victim of a senseless act of violence that left him paraplegic. Despite suffering from unimaginable pain, including being shot multiple times—twice in the heart—Melvin faced each day with an unwavering strength. His ability to smile through the most challenging circumstances remained an inspiration to those around him.
For over three decades, Melvin was lovingly cared for by his mother, Tambra Lynette Lewis, who described him as her heart and purpose. In recent weeks, his health took a drastic turn, and although his passing was sudden, it was peaceful, surrounded by the comfort of home and the love of family.
A fundraiser has been created by his mother, Tambra Lewis, to assist with medical and funeral expenses. So far, the community has rallied to support the Molden family, with $165 raised through donations from Tarshur Kenny, Marilyn Pickens, and Vel Eastman.
Melvin’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His remarkable strength, his loving nature, and the light he brought into the world will not be forgotten.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
