Marielle Evans, Wichita, KS—The community is deeply saddened as we share the heartbreaking news of Marielle Evans’ passing. A devoted mother of seven, Marielle’s life came to a tragic end in an unexpected incident that has left her family and friends devastated.
On Thursday, October 10th, Marielle was walking to a gas station near her home when she was struck by a car. The incident occurred in an area with poor lighting and no sidewalks, forcing her to cross the street to find a safe path. Sadly, as she reached the middle of the street, a vehicle hit her, sending her through the windshield. The driver lost control, leading to a severe accident. Marielle was pronounced dead at the scene, and her family has since been grappling with the shock and grief of this sudden tragedy.
Marielle leaves behind seven children, ages 15, 12, 9, 6, 4, 2, and a 4-month-old infant. Her cousin’s partner, Amelia McGowin, has taken five of the children into her home, which is now filled with 12 family members, as the remaining two children are staying with their grandmother. The older children are deeply affected by their mother’s loss, while the younger ones are struggling to comprehend the situation.
Amelia McGowin has started a fundraiser titled "Please Help Us Bury This Mother of Seven" to assist the family with funeral expenses. All donations will go directly toward Marielle’s funeral at Heavenly Gates Mortuary and her burial at Maple-Grove Cemetery. The family is doing their best to cope with this loss and provide the children with love and support during this devastating time.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Marielle Evans. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this difficult period.
