Maria Linda Robles, Salem, OR— Maria Linda Robles has passed away after a long battle with health complications. She was a resilient woman who dedicated much of her life to helping others, both in her career as a police dispatcher and later as a mentor to many.
Maria’s journey began with a remarkable career in law enforcement, where she served as a police dispatcher in Albany, Oregon, throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Her calm yet firm voice guided countless individuals through emergencies during that time, often managing multiple calls while ensuring that help was on the way. She was known for her ability to provide 100% attention in the most challenging of circumstances.
Maria’s life was not without personal hardships, including the loss of her husband to suicide in 1987, which she handled with tremendous strength while raising three boys. Despite this, she continued to serve her community and later found joy with her second husband, Mario Robles, when they moved to Mexico in 1995. There, Maria began a new chapter, teaching English to students aspiring to gain legal immigration status in the United States.
After several years, Maria returned to the U.S. and took up a second career in law enforcement as a fingerprint technician for the Oregon State Police. Unfortunately, health issues forced her to retire for a second time, but Maria remained determined to live life on her own terms, even losing over 100 pounds and managing to reduce her reliance on medications.
In her later years, Maria moved back to Mexico where she spent her time near the ocean with Mario. It was there that she fought against her health problems with unmatched resolve, continuing to live independently and embrace life. Maria’s determination remained evident until her final days, as she was surrounded by family and loved ones during her end-of-life journey.
Jason Alan Cripe, Maria’s son, has set up a fundraiser to help cover the remaining expenses associated with her passing. He described his mother as a strong, compassionate woman who always put others first. Her impact on the lives of those she helped, including a former student, Jesus, who went on to found a school that has helped countless individuals gain legal immigration status, is a testament to her legacy.
Maria’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family and community, but her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the lessons she imparted.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Maria Linda Robles’ passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
