She was hospitalized following a debilitating stroke caused by an endocarditis infection in August 2024. After being transferred from Visalia, CA, to Modesto for long-term care in October, her health continued to decline. Despite efforts to treat her, Maria suffered from diabetic complications and kidney disease, which ultimately left her unable to undergo heart surgery. Her condition worsened over time, leading to necrosis from blood clots throughout her body.
Her son, Christian Pimentel, has shared the family’s grief and plans to honor her by arranging for comfort care in mid-January, before proceeding with a funeral service and cremation. Maria’s remains will be laid to rest in her late husband’s grave at Lemoore Cemetery, where both parents will be together.
A fundraising campaign has been set up by her son to help cover funeral costs. As of now, $1,410 has been raised toward the estimated $10,000 goal, with donations coming from the community to help ease the financial burden during this difficult time.
