Marcus Overstreet of Demopolis, AL passed away a year and a half ago, and his close friend, Daniel Gregory, is now organizing a fundraiser to place a memorial in his honor. Overstreet, described as an incredible friend, artist, and musician, is remembered fondly for his positive and resilient spirit despite numerous personal hardships.

Overstreet, who lost both parents at a young age, faced significant challenges throughout his life but always remained a source of strength and support to those around him. He was a talented musician and artist, earning a scholarship to the University of West Alabama for his musical abilities and later serving in the Marine Corps as a sharpshooter.

Despite overcoming personal tragedies, including the loss of his wife in a car accident, Marcus faced health issues that led to his passing in May 2023 from heart failure at the age of 38. His friend Daniel Gregory recalls his unwavering strength and character, describing him as one of the best people he had ever known.

Gregory’s fundraiser aims to raise $1,500 to place a headstone or statue in Demopolis’s Memorial Gardens, where Marcus’s family members are buried. Gregory expresses his determination to honor Marcus’s memory, saying, "My friend deserves a marker at least beside his family, a place where people can pay their respects and remember him."
