Mamadou Diallo, Berlin—Mamadou Diallo has tragically passed away in a refugee accommodation facility under heartbreaking circumstances. His death remained unnoticed for weeks, and his body was discovered more than a month after his passing, severely decomposed. Mamadou, who had no family or friends in Germany, found his final resting place thanks to the efforts of Sanoussy Barry, a compassionate caregiver.
Mamadou Diallo, originally from Guinea, had been residing in Germany for some time. His untimely death was a tragic reminder of the dire conditions faced by many refugees. In an act of kindness, Sanoussy Barry, a dedicated nurse, took it upon himself to ensure that Mamadou’s remains were treated with dignity and given a proper burial, despite the lack of family support.
Sanoussy’s efforts to cover the costs of the funeral, amounting to approximately €5,000, have sparked a fundraiser to help with the expenses. So far, the fundraiser has raised €1,426 through 25 donations. The community has rallied behind this cause, with notable donations from Sabine Arras (€500) and Sabine Nathalie Stadler (€100).
This loss has left a significant mark on the Berlin community, especially those who were familiar with Sanoussy’s volunteer work and dedication to helping others, including refugees who often face overwhelming challenges in their new lives.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mamadou Diallo, and with Sanoussy Barry, who has shown incredible compassion in these difficult times.
We offer our deepest condolences to Mamadou’s family and loved ones during this painful period.
