Leonard Lee "Lenny" Luckey, Spokane, WA— Leonard Lee "Lenny" Luckey, a beloved figure in the Spokane community, passed away peacefully at his home on December 27, 2024. He was 59 years old. Lenny’s passing has left a profound impact on his friends, family, and the many people whose lives he touched through his larger-than-life personality and vibrant career.
Lenny, originally from Vallejo, California, was known for his boundless energy, charismatic presence, and deep love for 80s music. He made a name for himself as a DJ and radio personality, first working at KSFC 91.9 FM and later entertaining countless people at local venues like the Ice Palace. His work behind the mic and his infectious storytelling became the soundtrack of many Spokane residents’ lives.
In addition to his time as a DJ, Lenny was a fixture at Spokane’s Riverfront Park, where he drove the iconic Choo-Choo train and even had the honor of chauffeuring President George W. Bush during a visit to Spokane. His service as a mobile DJ for weddings and events throughout the 90s further cemented his status as a cherished member of the community.
Lenny is survived by his sister, LeeAnn Reed, and her husband Steve Reed, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, particularly his close friend Katrina "Buffy" Stewart. To honor his memory, a memorial bench will be placed at Riverfront Park, where his family and friends can gather to reflect on the joy and laughter Lenny brought to their lives.
A service to celebrate Lenny’s incredible life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2024, at 7:00 PM at Stateline Showgirls. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested donations to fund the memorial bench, which will be unveiled in the spring.
Lenny’s legacy of joy and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his community, friends, and family.
We offer our deepest condolences and prayers to Lenny’s family and friends during this difficult time. May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who mourn his loss.
