Born on August 15, 1931, in Cambodia, Leng Pen’s life was a testament to courage and determination. She, along with her late husband, Reth Yin, fled their war-torn homeland during Pol Pot’s regime, seeking refuge in the United States with their seven children. Her journey was marked by immense sacrifice, as the family endured the tragic loss of one child during their perilous escape. Leng’s life in America was devoted to her family, where she became the cornerstone of her large and loving household.
Known for her multifaceted personality, Leng was a woman of great complexity. To some, she was a source of kindness, humor, and generosity. To others, she could be blunt and dramatic, always true to herself. Despite her complexities, she was deeply cherished by her family and friends, who admired her unwavering spirit.
