Lee Starr, Foxhills—The community is in deep mourning following the tragic passing of Lee Starr. At just 38 years old, Lee was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, whose unexpected departure has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew him.
On 22nd August 2024, during an event at Foxhills motocross, Lee suffered a catastrophic injury after a single punch to the head led to a brain bleed. Despite being rushed to Southmead ICU in Bristol and placed on life support, the valiant efforts to save his life were ultimately in vain. On 25th August 2024, at 15:15, Lee Starr passed away, surrounded by the love of his family.
Lee’s death has profoundly affected his wife, Jaye, and their three children, Lily, Frederick, and Ruby, as well as their granddaughter, Robyn. The family was unprepared for such a sudden and devastating loss, and the community has rallied around them in this difficult time.
A fundraiser has been organized by Ruth Randle and Kelly Coombs to help Jaye and the family give Lee the respectful farewell he deserves. The fundraiser, which was created yesterday, has so far raised £1,260 of its £5,000 goal through the generous contributions of 39 donors. Among the donations, an anonymous donor contributed £100, making it the top donation, while Tracey Thompson was the first to donate £25.
The outpouring of support on social media has been overwhelming. Mark Alsop urged others to help give Lee the send-off he deserves, sharing the fundraiser link. Paul Northridge remembered Lee as a "true gent" who always had a smile, expressing his honor in having known and worked with him. Vicky Brown sent her love to all of Lee’s family and friends, sharing her disbelief at the news. Chris Wilson simply stated, "RIP Lee Starr," while Adam Brown recalled speaking with Lee just a couple of weeks ago, expressing his shock and sending love to Lee’s family.
Paul Frost expressed his disbelief, calling Lee "one of the best" and a "down-to-earth, nicest chap" who always had time to make others laugh. Graham Mawby, similarly stunned by the news, described Lee as a "real nice lad," offering condolences to his family and friends. Ray Cartwright also shared his heartfelt message, saying, "We love you dearly, always have and always will," while Pearl Long echoed the sentiment with a simple "RIP Lee Starr."
The love and respect that Lee Starr garnered in life will surely help preserve his memory among those who were fortunate enough to know him.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Starr family during this unimaginably difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
