Larry David Petersen, age 73, of Cottonwood, AZ, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a passion for life that touched many. Born on August 2, 1951, in Oshkosh, WI, Larry was the son of Floyd and Betty Petersen. He graduated from Columbus High School in Marshfield, WI, and later married Janet Hoffman in 1971. The couple spent time living in Germany during Larry’s service in the Army before settling in Marshfield and then Cottonwood, where they spent the last 13 years.
Larry, affectionately known as "Toolman Larry," was a talented handyman, well-known both in Marshfield and Cottonwood. His love for hiking, riding his ATV, camping, and capturing the beauty of sunsets and scenic landscapes was well-known among friends and family. Larry also enjoyed frequent trips to Menard’s and Ace Hardware in Cottonwood and was an accomplished traveler, exploring the country with his RV.
Larry was a devoted husband to Janet for 52 years and a loving father to Hollie (Tony) Bellovary, with grandchildren Amanda and Sawyer of Green Bay, WI, and Corey (Olivia) Petersen, with grandchildren Cole and Owen of Kennesaw, GA. He is also survived by his siblings, Patty Bell (Joe), Cindy Koerten (Craig), and Randy Petersen (Linda), along with sister-in-law Sue Karo (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Betty Petersen.
