Lanai Sherrie Bowens, Albuquerque, NM— We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Lanai Sherrie Bowens. Lanai, a treasured member of the Bowens family and the Avalon Park and Bullock County communities, left us on September 9, 2024. Her passing came as a result of a sudden pulmonary embolism that led to cardiac arrest. Despite medical efforts at UNM Hospital, Lanai did not regain consciousness, and the medical team determined she had sustained a catastrophic brain injury and a massive stroke due to oxygen deprivation.
Lanai’s life was marked by her radiant smile, profound love for family, and unwavering loyalty. Known for her eclectic taste in music, vibrant personality, and distinctive giggle, Lanai was a beloved figure whose presence brought joy and support to those around her. She was also a dedicated organ donor, reflecting her generous spirit even in her final moments.
In light of her unexpected passing, a fundraiser has been established by Brenda Bowens Relf to assist with the cremation process, relocation of Lanai’s possessions, and outstanding medical expenses. The current goal for the fundraiser is $3,500, with contributions being greatly appreciated.
Lanai’s memory will forever be cherished by her family and all who knew her. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Lanai’s loved ones during this difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lanai Sherrie Bowens’ family as they navigate through this profound loss.
