Arvada, CO—The Courtney and Kunz families are reeling from the unexpected loss of Kristin Kunz Courtney, who passed away on Monday, August 19th, at her home in Arvada. Kristin suffered a major medical event sometime after midnight, which led to her being rushed to the ICU. Despite the paramedics’ efforts to revive her, a CAT scan revealed severe cerebral edema due to a lack of oxygen, and sadly, Kristin could not recover.
Kristin’s passing has left her husband Danny, son Jayden, and daughter Brooklynn devastated. Jayden, 15, recently began his sophomore year at Arvada West High School and had just made the Ralston Valley Varsity Ice Hockey Team—a sport his mother was passionate about supporting. Brooklynn, who will turn 10 on September 9th, just started 5th grade at Fairmount Elementary and is actively involved in gymnastics, dance, and softball.
In the wake of this tragic loss, Lisa Scarafoni has organized a fundraiser to support the Courtney family. The funds raised will go towards covering Kristin’s funeral expenses, medical bills, Jayden’s hockey fees and travel expenses, and maintaining Brooklynn’s activity schedule. The aim is to help the family focus on healing without the added burden of financial stress.
The Arvada community is being called upon to support the Courtney family during this difficult time. The fundraiser has set a goal of $50,000, and donations, no matter the size, are greatly appreciated. The generosity of friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers will help honor Kristin’s memory and support her loved ones as they navigate this challenging period.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the Courtney and Kunz families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of grief.
