Kimberly Summers of Lafayette, TN, passed away on Friday night, September 20th, following a series of medical complications that stemmed from a fall several weeks ago. She was surrounded by family and loved ones during her final moments at Vanderbilt, where she had been airlifted for treatment. Despite fighting hard for weeks, Kimberly ultimately succumbed to the damage caused by a large sub-dermal hematoma and subsequent strokes, leaving a profound sense of loss in her family and community.
Kimberly was remembered by her son, Richie Summers, as the strongest woman their family had ever known. Her resilience, particularly after surviving a car accident in October 2022 that left her with disabilities, was a testament to her courage and spirit. Unfortunately, she lost her work insurance following the accident, leaving her family with mounting expenses in the wake of her passing.
In light of these financial challenges, her son Richie Summers has organized a fundraiser to honor Kimberly’s memory. The funds raised will help cover the costs of her cremation and fulfill her final wish to be laid to rest alongside her husband of 30 years, Richard Summers. A memorial service is being planned, although the details have not yet been finalized.
As of now, the fundraiser has raised $175 out of a $5,000 goal, thanks to generous donations from Trey Reid, Destiney Summers, and Tammie Mcclard. The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support they’ve received during this difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Summers family as they mourn the loss of Kimberly. May her soul rest in peace, and may her family find comfort in the memories and love she left behind.
