Khentrul Sangay Tenzin, Wamrong, Bhutan — The community is deeply mourning the loss of Khentrul Sangay Tenzin, who passed away recently. Khentrul Sangay Tenzin was a revered lama, known for his significant contributions to Buddhist philosophy and his dedication to various spiritual projects.
Khentrul Sangay Tenzin, born in 1969 in Wamrong, Bhutan, was recognized as the Tulku of Botrul Dongak Tenpa Byima by HH Peor Rinpoche and was enthroned at Dzongnang Monastery in Nepal. He pursued higher Buddhist philosophy and served as the senior-most Khenpo at Nyingma Institute, Taktse, Sikkim.
Tragically, Khentrul Sangay Tenzin passed away on the 15th day of the 6th lunar month, which corresponds to July 21, 2024. His sudden departure has left a profound void in the hearts of his followers and the larger Buddhist community. His legacy, however, continues through the ongoing projects he initiated, including the construction of a monastery.
To honor Khentrul Sangay Tenzin’s legacy and continue his unfinished work, his sister, Kinley Gyelmo, has organized a fundraiser. The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $15,000 to support the completion of the monastery project and provide for over 30 disciples left in his care. The community has yet to make contributions, and any donation would be greatly appreciated to help them navigate this challenging time.
Kinley Gyelmo, expressing her gratitude, stated, "With a heavy heart, I’d like to briefly explain why we are seeking donations. Our project is facing urgent challenges, and we need your support to move forward. Any contribution would be deeply appreciated."
Khentrul Sangay Tenzin’s memory will live on through the continuation of his projects and the impact he had on his disciples and the broader community.
