Kevin Daniel Chaparro Alarcon, Miami, FL — The community is grieving the untimely passing of Kevin Daniel Chaparro Alarcon, who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on the night of July 15, 2024. Kevin was just 18 years old, a young man full of promise and potential.
Born in Miami, Florida, and raised in Colombia, Kevin always dreamt of returning to his birthplace to further his education. His hard work and dedication paid off when he earned a scholarship to begin his studies in Miami this coming September. Kevin was a brilliant student, an excellent football (soccer) player, and had won multiple tournaments, showcasing his talent and determination.
On the night of the incident, Kevin had gone to a nearby mall to watch the final football match between Colombia and Argentina. As an avid football player and fan, he was excited about the game and stayed in touch with his parents throughout the evening. After the match, he called his father in Colombia, saying, "I am going home; I will call you when I get there." Unfortunately, that call never came. Kevin was hit by a vehicle and died at the scene.
Kevin’s parents, currently in Colombia, are struggling with the challenges of managing the necessary arrangements from afar. To support them, a fundraiser organized by Matthew Geiken has been launched to help cover the costs of visa paperwork for Kevin’s parents, repatriation of Kevin’s body to Colombia, and funeral expenses. So far, $100 has been raised out of the $20,000 goal, with a generous donation from Sara Munoz.
The community’s support is crucial during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will aid Kevin’s family in bringing him back home and giving him a dignified farewell. Kevin’s memory will live on through the love and joy he brought to everyone around him.
