Kevin Belcher, Medway, UK—Kevin Belcher tragically passed away on Friday, August 16th, after a grueling three-year battle with kidney cancer. His passing has left the community in shock and mourning, especially his wife, Jodie, and their two sons, Reece and Calum.
Kevin was well-known and loved by many. He had recently begun working as a postman, a job that kept him active during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was during this time that Kevin began experiencing severe back pain, which eventually led to the discovery of a rare and aggressive Wilms tumor, usually seen in children.
Despite undergoing multiple rounds of intense chemotherapy, Kevin’s condition worsened. In July, he and his family took a trip to Scotland, a journey filled with love and lasting memories, though Kevin was already in significant pain. Just days after returning home, he was admitted to Medway Hospital, where his health rapidly declined. After being transferred to the Wisdom Hospice on August 14th, Kevin spent his final days surrounded by his loving family.
In the wake of Kevin’s unexpected passing, his wife Jodie and their children are facing significant emotional and financial challenges. A fundraiser organized by Jodi Butterfield has been set up to assist with funeral expenses and to help alleviate some of the burdens on Jodie as she navigates this difficult time. The fundraiser has so far raised £305 of its £1,500 goal, thanks to the generosity of nine donors.
Kevin’s death has profoundly affected those who knew him, especially his family. He was deeply devoted to Jodie and their boys, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. The sudden loss has left a void that will be difficult to fill.
