Kerri Anne, Doomadgee— Kerri Anne passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2024, leaving a deep sense of sorrow among family, friends, and the broader community. Known for her warmth and kindness, Kerri Anne touched many lives through her travels for work in New South Wales, Canberra, and more recently in her role at Doomadgee State School.
Her passing has devastated her family, particularly her mother, Leonie, who is now organizing the funeral arrangements. The family has decided to hold the funeral in Doomadgee, a remote Aboriginal community in the Gulf of Carpentaria, approximately 140km east of the Northern Territory border.
To honor Kerri Anne’s memory, the family has chosen a beautiful white coffin adorned with purple butterflies. Due to the logistical challenges of transporting the coffin to Doomadgee, a fundraiser has been established to help with the costs. So far, $550 AUD has been raised, with donations continuing to support the family in this difficult time.
Narissa Daisy, the organizer of the fundraiser, has expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, and all donations, no matter the size, are appreciated as the family navigates this heart-wrenching moment.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Kerri Anne’s family and friends. May she rest in peace.
