Katy Arbuthnot, a beloved member of the St. Louis, MO community, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering support for those around her. Katy’s life was a testament to her passion for education, her commitment to her students, and her deep love for her family and friends.
Katy was a highly respected teacher at Oakville Middle School, where she taught math and was honored to be a Project Lead the Way teacher. Her dedication to her students extended far beyond the classroom, as she passionately advocated for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Katy’s impact at Oakville Middle School, where she served for 18 years, and at Betty Wheeler Classical Junior Academy, where she was actively involved as a PTO member, is deeply felt by the communities she served.
In addition to her professional achievements, Katy was known for her servant’s heart. She spearheaded the Eye See Me book fair, led a Girl Scout troop, supported Girls on the Run, and took on the role of PTO treasurer at Betty Wheeler. Her warm energy, contagious smile, and ability to make everyone feel included were true gifts that will be missed by all who knew her.
The community has come together to support Katy’s family, especially her daughters, Lilly and Raegan, who were her pride and joy. A GoFundMe campaign, organized by Jen Paule, has been established to assist with the financial burden following Katy’s passing. In just a short time, $100 of the $30,000 goal has been raised.
Jen Paule, in a heartfelt Facebook post, wrote, "This makes it real. We love you Katy. We will continue to be the light for your precious girls." The outpouring of support and love from the community is a testament to the impact Katy had on the lives of those around her.
Katy’s visitation will be held on Sunday, August 25, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home in Washington, MO. A Mass will take place on Monday, August 26, at 10:00 am at St. Gertrude’s Parish, followed by a luncheon at KC Hall.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Katy Arbuthnot’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time. May her memory be a source of comfort and strength.
