Karen Leah Plaited-Hair, Vancouver, BC—It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Karen Leah Plaited-Hair, who made her journey to the spirit world on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, in Vancouver, BC. Karen’s family, including her daughter Chasity Kuzmicz, is now focusing on bringing her back to her homelands in Southern Alberta for her final resting place.
Chasity, along with her cousin Chantelle, immediately traveled from the Okanogan to Vancouver upon hearing the heartbreaking news to say their final goodbyes. In the midst of this difficult time, Chasity is faced with the overwhelming costs of travel, funeral expenses, and the complex arrangements required to honor Karen’s wishes. Chasity and her cousin are only allowed five days of bereavement leave, meaning much of the time taken to finalize Karen’s arrangements will be unpaid.
In response, a fundraiser has been organized by family friend Lisa Henderson to support Chasity and her family. The funds raised will assist with covering travel costs, funeral expenses, and help bring Karen Leah Plaited-Hair to her homelands. As of now, $355 has been generously donated by friends and supporters. Contributions include $300 from Natalie Tiburzi, $50 from Jo-Anne Nelson, and $5 from Bridget de Jong. The family is deeply grateful for any further support as they navigate this emotional journey.
We send our heartfelt condolences to Chasity, Chantelle, and all those grieving the loss of Karen Leah Plaited-Hair. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you honor her life and legacy.
