Karen Burghardt, Neenah, WI— Karen Burghardt passed away after battling a severe health crisis. She was taken to UW Madison on Monday, November 11, 2024, for emergency surgery, which revealed a tear in her aorta. Despite a successful operation to repair the tear, Karen faced numerous complications, including the need for additional surgeries, dialysis, and ECMO support. Sadly, she passed away after a courageous fight against her condition.
Karen was a deeply caring and generous person, known for her love of family, friends, and her pets. Her sudden passing has left a profound impact on those who knew her. A fundraising campaign was initiated by her family to cover her cremation, funeral expenses, and outstanding medical bills, as well as the ongoing care for her beloved animals—two cats, Kyle and Jackson, and two dogs, Rudy and Tator.
The fundraising efforts, supported by many, have raised $1,295 to date, with contributions from friends and family, including Peggy Tyson’s generous donation of $200. The funds will help provide Karen with a proper farewell and ensure the well-being of her pets.
Christy Tom, a close friend of Karen, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support: "I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and for reaching out to our family over the past 2 weeks. Mom was really lucky to have all of you in her life."
A celebration of Karen’s life is scheduled for Monday, November 25, 2024, at Lucky Dogz Banquet Hall in Neenah, where friends and family will come together to share memories and honor her legacy.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Karen’s family and friends during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
