Grande Prairie, AB — Kaitlin Barath passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, after a two-week journey that brought her family to her side as she moved between the ICU and Palliative Care. At just 22, Kaitlin’s passing leaves her family in deep mourning and the community rallying to offer support.
Following a hypoxic brain injury, Kaitlin was admitted to the ICU on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Despite intensive care efforts, the family made the difficult decision to transfer her to Palliative Care, where she ultimately passed away surrounded by loved ones. Her sister, Madison Barath, is now organizing a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses, as well as travel and financial assistance for Kaitlin’s family, who have been by her side during these trying weeks.
The community’s response has been heartfelt, with numerous donations and messages of support for the Barath family. Madison Halladay expressed gratitude, writing, "Thank you, Michelle." Tryna Gower added, "Sending light," while Nicole Dawn Halladay shared her thanks, "Thank you so much Michelle Diepdael. Xox."
As of today, $720 of the $8,000 goal has been raised through eight donations, offering essential relief during this difficult time.
Our thoughts and heartfelt prayers go out to Kaitlin’s family, friends, and all who loved her. May they find comfort and peace in cherished memories.
