Julio Santiago, Bristol, CT—The Bristol community is deeply saddened by the passing of Julio Santiago, affectionately known as Jay, JC, Ceasar, viejo, and Babu. Julio passed away peacefully at his home on August 31, 2024. He was known for his infectious laughter, love for storytelling, and deep passion for music, especially playing the congas.
Julio’s life was filled with simple joys—riding his bike along Hill Street, playing pool and dominoes, watching NASCAR, and his greatest passion, playing handball. He was not only a player but a mentor to many, teaching the younger generation to love the sport as much as he did. His love for his family and friends was boundless, always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need, even with the little he had.
In honor of Julio’s memory, his daughter Julia Rosado has organized a fundraiser to support his burial. So far, $520 has been raised out of the $12,000 goal, with generous contributions from individuals like Erik Foster, Ronald Medlock, Alexis Gonzalez, Jahairalyz Torres, and Laura Montes.
Julio’s warm spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The love and joy he brought into the lives of those around him will continue to live on in their memories.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Julio Santiago’s family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find comfort and strength in the days ahead.
