Joseph Charlemagne, Ft. Washington, MD— It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Joseph Charlemagne, lovingly known as Uncle Joe, on the evening of September 14, 2024. His passing marks the end of a long, courageous battle with a condition he had been fighting for the last 27 years, a battle that he defied all odds to endure, even after being given only six months to live by doctors at the time of his diagnosis.
Uncle Joe was known for his loving spirit and his ability to make those around him feel supported and cherished. Whether it was through offering a car ride, sharing a home-cooked meal, or imparting his wisdom, he touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Though he did not have much, he was always willing to give back in whatever way he could.
For nearly three decades, Joseph’s family and friends were blessed with more time than they had originally expected, time they cherished deeply. His presence will be sorely missed, but the memories and love he gave will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
The family recently secured life insurance for Uncle Joe; however, they would have needed to hold the policy for two years to receive the full benefit. Unfortunately, only a year had passed, leaving the family in need of financial support to cover funeral and memorial expenses.
A fundraiser has been set up by Natacha Vainqueur, his niece, to help cover these costs, with a goal of $15,000. As of now, $350 has been raised through the kind donations of three supporters: Desiree Granger ($100), Katia Lubin ($200), and Ashley Bonney ($50). The family asks that those who are able consider donating or sharing the fundraiser link with the community.
The love and generosity of Joseph Charlemagne will be remembered by many, and his family is deeply thankful for the support during this difficult time. We extend our heartfelt prayers for the family and all those who were touched by Uncle Joe’s life. May he rest in peace.
