Jose Mata Valdez, San Jose, CA — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Mata Valdez, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and cherished friend. Born on March 5, 1954, Jose lived his life to the fullest until his passing on July 20, 2024.
Jose, also known as Uncle Joe, was known for his stubborn yet charming persona, playful humor, and unyieldingly big heart. He filled every room with laughter and joy and taught those around him the virtue of patience and the importance of living in the moment. His love for his family, particularly his nieces and nephews, and his passion for the San Francisco 49ers were defining aspects of his life. He took immense pride in securing his 49ers season tickets at Levi’s Stadium, making him the life of every game day.
Jose is survived by his sister Susie Vega, nieces Jessica Torres and Melinda Vega, and nephews Merced and Mark Vega and Brian Valdez, along with their respective families. His commitment to being the best uncle he could be was unwavering, and his love and generosity will forever be etched in their hearts.
A fundraiser organized by Christina Vega, titled "Remembering Jose Mata Valdez: A Heart of Gold," aims to support the family with funeral expenses. The goal is to raise $15,000, and contributions of all sizes are welcome and appreciated.
The family will hold a viewing for Jose on August 8, 2024, from 5 pm to 9 pm, with a rosary from 6 pm to 7 pm at 466 N Winchester Blvd. A mass will take place at Our Lady of Peace Church the following morning, August 9, at 9:30 am, followed by a reception at The Family Church at 99 North Bascom, San Jose, CA 95128, from 11:30 am to 4 pm.
We invite all who knew Jose to join us in commemorating his life and cherishing the memories he left behind. His charming spirit touched many lives, and he will be greatly missed.
