The incident occurred during a rappelling practice when his wife suddenly fell. In a desperate attempt to rescue her, Jose Manuel jumped after her, but sadly, both of their lives were lost.
Jose Manuel is survived by his mother and brother, Jonathan Auffant Colom. Friends and family have been deeply affected by the news of his passing. A fundraiser has been organized by Angel Perez to support the Auffant Colom family during this difficult time, with a goal of $15,000 to help cover funeral expenses and other financial burdens. So far, $430 has been raised through the generous contributions of eight donors, including Stephanie Hernandez and Hector Rodriguez.
