Jose E. Chavez, Dallas, TX—It is with great sadness that the community of Dallas and the Dallas Fire-Rescue family announce the passing of firefighter Jose E. Chavez. On October 19, 2024, Jose Chavez tragically lost his battle with mental illness, leaving behind his wife Melissa, their infant son Santiago, and three other children, Lily, Julia, and Lucas.
Jose was a dedicated firefighter who served with honor and commitment. His passing has deeply affected his family, friends, and colleagues. The Dallas Hispanic Firefighters Association (DHFA) has stepped forward to assist the Chavez family during this incredibly difficult time.
A GoFundMe fundraiser organized by Stefani Salinas, DHFA President, has been set up to offer support to the Chavez family. The community is being asked to contribute in various ways, including monetary donations, gift cards for essential needs such as food and baby supplies, or assistance with household services like rent, utilities, yard work, and cleaning.
In these trying times, the family is also asking for prayers and emotional support as they navigate the days and weeks ahead. As more details about the memorial services become available, updates will be provided through the fundraiser.
We extend our deepest condolences to Melissa Chavez, their children, and the entire Chavez family. Our hearts are with you during this time of unimaginable loss. We pray for your strength and healing in the days to come.
