John Alexander Mejia, affectionately known as Alex, has recently passed away on the afternoon of August 10th, leaving the Westbrook, CT community in deep sorrow. Alex was cherished by all who knew him for his warm personality and his ability to bring joy to everyone around him. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother, whose smile could light up any room.
His wife, Rizalyn Regilme, lovingly referred to Alex as the "Mayor of Westbrook" because of his friendly nature and the many connections he made within the community. Alex was well-known for his love of freestyle and karaoke, often bringing people together with his music and laughter.
In the wake of his passing, Rizalyn has organized a fundraiser to help cover the expenses of Alex’s funeral and to provide support for their grieving family. The fundraiser, titled "Help Give My Beloved Husband Alex a Dignified Farewell," has a goal of $20,000. As of now, $2,985 has been raised through the generosity of 13 donors. The top donation of $2,000 was made by Sebastian Guzman, with Hayden Davis contributing $60 as the most recent donation. The first donation of $15 was made by an anonymous donor.
Rizalyn expressed her deep love for Alex and her desire to give him the farewell he deserves. She hopes that through the kindness of others, they can achieve their goal and honor Alex’s memory in a way that reflects the love and joy he brought to so many lives.
Our hearts go out to Rizalyn and the entire Mejia family during this difficult time. We offer our thoughts and prayers for Alex’s soul and for the comfort of those he left behind.
