Joeleen Doughty, Phoenix, AZ— Joeleen Doughty, affectionately known as "Jody," passed away on December 20th, 2024, at the age of 79. Jody, who had Cerebral Palsy, lived a life filled with simple joys, including playing with Barbies and watching cartoons. Despite her challenges, she maintained a cheerful and resilient spirit throughout her years.
Joeleen was lovingly cared for by her family, beginning with her mother, Grace McGuire Gunter, until her passing in 1994. Afterward, her aunt Elaine Keith became her primary caregiver until her own passing in 2020. Following this loss, Joeleen’s health declined rapidly. She fell into a deep depression, stopped eating, and struggled with incontinence. Her Cerebral Palsy worsened, leading to more frequent seizures and ultimately resulting in cardiac arrest.
Though Joeleen’s headstone and burial plot have been paid for since the 1990s, her family needs help to lay her to rest next to her mother in the family plot. A fundraiser has been set up by Candice Gibson to assist with the necessary costs. The goal is to raise $13,000, and donations are currently being accepted to ensure Joeleen’s rightful place next to her loved ones.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joeleen’s family during this difficult time. We wish them strength and comfort as they lay their dear Joeleen to rest.
