Ilias Chronopoulos, Scarborough, ON— Ilias Chronopoulos passed away on November 1st, 2024, after a long and difficult battle with liver and pancreatic cancer. His death leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family and the community who knew him as a hardworking and selfless individual.
Born and raised in Kalamata, Greece, Ilias moved to Toronto in 2011 in search of a better future for his family. Despite the hardships he faced, including long working hours and financial struggles, Ilias never stopped providing for his loved ones. He worked tirelessly, often juggling multiple jobs, to create a better life for his children, Katerina and George. Throughout his 13 years in Canada, he sacrificed much, living in a basement apartment and enduring difficult conditions just to ensure his family would be secure.
Ilias’s dedication to his family was unwavering. However, his health began to deteriorate in 2022 when he was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer. Despite battling this aggressive disease for over two years, Ilias continued to stay strong for his family until the very end, passing away with them by his side.
In his memory, a fundraiser has been set up to help cover the costs of his funeral and burial, which far exceed what his family is able to afford. Due to Ontario’s financial assistance limitations, the Chronopoulos family is left to cover the expenses on their own. The generous contributions will help ease the financial burden during this tragic time, ensuring Ilias receives the respectful farewell he deserves.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Ilias Chronopoulos’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.
