Hunter Smithson, Normandy Lake — The community is mourning the loss of Hunter Smithson, who tragically passed away in a fishing accident on Normandy Lake this past Sunday, July 7th. Hunter was a beloved husband, father, and friend, remembered for his strength, support, and unwavering love for his family.
Early on Sunday, Hunter set out for a peaceful morning of fishing at 4 AM. When he did not return home by noon, his family became worried. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) discovered him face down in the water at 4 PM, having suffered a medical issue that caused him to fall.
Hunter leaves behind his stay-at-home wife, Sarah, their two young daughters, Louella and Layla, and a son expected to be born any day now. This unexpected tragedy has left his family facing overwhelming financial challenges.
To support Hunter’s family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Brittney Cooper. The campaign has raised $2,520 out of its $25,000 goal through 12 donations. Contributions will help cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and living costs for his wife and children.
The top donation of $1,000 was made by Terri Cooper, who also made the first donation. Reba and Grady Harrist recently contributed $100. The community is encouraged to donate and share the campaign to provide the much-needed support for Hunter’s family.
Hunter’s memory will live on through the love he shared and the strength he exhibited. His family and friends will cherish the moments they had with him, finding comfort in the legacy he left behind.
