Born on February 21, 1935, in Achrafieh, Lebanon, Hermine was the daughter of Serpouhi and Hagop Sarafian. Her Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was known for her daily devotion to reading the Bible and praying for those she loved. After immigrating to Fresno in December 1983, Hermine faced the heartbreak of losing her husband, Nazar Kazanjian, shortly after their arrival. Despite the loss, she showed immense strength by dedicating her life to supporting her family.
Hermine had a long and successful career as a seamstress, working at various department stores over the years. Her life was marked by sacrifice and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of those around her. Whether through her love of storytelling, cooking traditional Armenian meals, or sharing music with her family, Hermine’s presence brought joy and warmth to those fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, and extended family, who will forever remember her radiant smile, kindness, and generosity.
In her memory, a fundraiser has been organized by Kristina Kordoghlanian to support families in Lebanon, a cause close to Hermine’s heart.
