Heidi Smith, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON—Heidi Smith passed away on October 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. At the age of 77, she lost her battle with cancer. Heidi was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many.
Heidi spent 58 wonderful years married to her husband Jim. She was a devoted mother to Jeffery (Angie), Julie (Tim), and Tracy, and a loving grandmother to Christopher, Cassandra, Ashley, and Jessie. Her great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Brooklyn, will also deeply miss her presence. Heidi’s siblings, Otto, Helga, and Wilfred in Canada, and Erika, Hildagard, and the late Hans in Germany, are left to remember her fondly.
Her passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of those who knew her. As a cherished member of the Niagara-on-the-Lake community, Heidi’s kindness and smile were constants that brought warmth to everyone around her. The community will gather on October 26, 2024, at the Royal Canadian Legion from 1 to 4 p.m. to celebrate her life.
A fundraiser organized by Cassie K has been created to cover the costs of memorial services and a plaque in Heidi’s honor, which will be placed at a willow tree in Niagara-on-the-Lake, per her final wishes. As of today, generous donations have been made by Paolo Miele ($50), Timothy Ellis ($25), and an anonymous supporter ($100).
Heidi’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and countless friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
