Heather Cassels, of Winnipeg, MB, passed away on October 24th, surrounded by her family and friends. Known for her kindness and dedication to her loved ones, Heather’s life touched many, leaving behind memories cherished by family and friends alike. Her passing has left a significant emotional and financial impact on her family, particularly her adult child, Sloan, who is managing the arrangements for her funeral and memorial.
Sloan, a university student, has taken a temporary leave from school to handle these responsibilities, including caring for Heather’s two elderly cats, Ruby and Brodie. As Sloan navigates these challenges, a fundraiser organized by family friend Mason Weakley is working to relieve some of the financial burden. Thus far, the community has raised $750 CAD toward the $8,000 goal, with four donations, including a generous $500 contribution from an anonymous donor.
In addition to funeral costs, funds will also assist with veterinary bills for Heather’s aging cats. Ruby, unfortunately, may soon require end-of-life care, adding to Sloan’s expenses during this difficult time. The community has shown tremendous support, rallying around Sloan, who has always extended help to others.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Heather’s family, especially Sloan, during this time of grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and we encourage the community to continue offering their support.
