Harold Edward Kontaxis Jr, Richmond, IL—The community is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Harold Edward Kontaxis Jr, who passed away on August 13th, 2024. Harold was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his life was marked by his love for his family and his country.
Harold dedicated 10 years of his life to serving in the Army, where he earned the respect and admiration of his peers. After his service, he continued to be a pillar of strength and love for his family, spending cherished moments with his children and grandchildren. Harold’s love for his wife Candy was unwavering, and the two shared a deep bond throughout their life together.
In recent months, Harold was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer, and his condition quickly worsened. His wife, Candy, has stepped away from her business to care for him during his final days. In memory of Harold and to assist with the expenses related to his memorial service, a fundraiser was organized by Christina Kraemer. The community has come together, raising $1,000 out of the $20,000 goal, with donations coming from friends and loved ones, including contributions from Samantha Wendt, Kate Jacobs, Kelly Forster, Diane Powers, and Patricia Banwart.
The family is preparing to give Harold a proper Army send-off, though the dates for the services are yet to be determined. The fundraiser continues, with the hope of easing the financial burden on Harold’s family during this difficult time.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Harold Edward Kontaxis Jr. Our thoughts and prayers are with Candy and the entire Kontaxis family as they navigate this profound loss.

So very sorry for your loss. I wish things could have been different. Russ really wanted to start anew and say goodbye. We wanted things to be different but in the end it wasn’t meant to be. God only knows why. Rest In Peace Harold.
