Gregorio Huertas, Statenville, GA—The Statenville community mourns the passing of Gregorio Huertas, affectionately known as Goyo. Gregorio passed away on the evening of September 27, 2024, after being found unresponsive at home following a difficult period of health struggles.
Gregorio had been dealing with kidney failure since mid-August and was undergoing dialysis and oxygen treatment. Unfortunately, during the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which struck their area on September 27, the power outage forced his family outside. While they were preparing dinner, Gregorio went inside to use the restroom. Within minutes, his family found him unresponsive. Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, Gregorio passed away later that evening.
A fundraiser has been organized by Araseli Godinez, Gregorio’s daughter-in-law, on behalf of his son Felix. The family is hoping to raise funds to honor Gregorio’s wish to be laid to rest next to his wife in Mexico. Any contributions, no matter how small, will help the family during this difficult time.
